The Daily Challenge for today's topic is to design a Messaging App.
Many message applications are available today, some of which are cross-platform, but most are mobile. Almost all messaging apps combine group and private chat in one message list, so the list is a bit messy. Asians in particular prefer to use the same app for work and personal matters. People quite often complain that they accidentally replied to the wrong channel when many things are going on.
In my app, I clearly distinguish between group chats and private chats based on my previous work status. A chaotic message list is avoided.
Second, my app has a Recent Contact list that I can use to find out who I've communicated with recently. When there are missed messages, the display colour on the list will be different.
One of my favourite design ideas is that Groups can be customized and classified according to users' habits, which makes managing information easier.
The priority of common functions is considered when designing the chat box. For instance, the chat history appears in the top right corner. Secondly, the red dot on the left top can alert users when there are other new messages while they are chatting with someone.
