About UX

Project Intro.

MilestonePay is a startup company. The platform they created was aimed at serving freelancers and providing them with a complete workflow from initial project construction to the proposal, contract, and payment processes to reduce issues that freelancers have dealing with admin stuff during busy periods.

Challenge

In the market, there are many similar platforms and even industry benchmarks. While they offer comprehensive functions and cover a wide range of careers, MilestonePay only serves freelancers.

The client knows that MilestonePay has insufficient users, and MilestonePay is aware of the problems, but still struggles to find a solution.

My point of view

While communicating with MilestonePay, I saw the confusion within the team. They know there are problems, but they don't know where to start. This gap needs to be filled.

My first step was to become a MilestonePay user. I found many problems, including user guidance, menus, interaction design, wording, etc., during the registration process and while using the platform. It seems like the platform has many functions, but it does not offer any help to users.

  • What features are necessary for freelancers?

  • What is the work process for freelancers?

  • Are they using platforms? If so, what platforms do they use?

  • How does MilestonePay fit into freelancers' workflow?

  • How can MilestonePay shine and gain customer loyalty?

The solutions I find for my clients will be based on these problems.

About UI

My Job

I am primarily responsible for the Discover part of the project and managed the product analysis independently, providing a clear direction for the team. In the Develop part, I contributed ideas that laid the foundation for the later wireframes.

Aim

Since the client wants to redo the whole product, they set up an agile plan, and we are in the first phase of it. The final task is to create Low-Fi wireframes, which provide ideas and establish a workflow.

My point of view

The website originally offered a series of educational courses, which took me nearly three hours to figure out. In addition, the menus were not logically arranged. I couldn't see any human-centred design on either their learning platform or menu system.

Project Fragments

My wireframe idea

For Freelancers to understand the entire project process, a menu system is needed.

In order to adapt to different situations, the workflow needs to be flexibly added or deleted.

The contract part of the original product had only one editing window, similar to the Blog. We found that most of our customers didn't know the contents of a formal contract, which is one of the most common issues mentioned by freelancers.

I designed a complete contract format in my wireframe idea, but this format is flexible and can move priority and add or remove the contents as needed.

It is flexible and instructive at the same time.

I worked with 11 UX/UI designers from different states of Australia with diverse backgrounds. We learned from each other on this project as everyone brought their creativity to it.

With less than a month to complete this project, we can only work on a small part of the reconstruction. Nonetheless, I think many improvements can still be made. These lessons will be incorporated into my future projects.
