Zoetic Project
2013 - 2016
The project lasted nearly 4 years. The team consists of 56 members, including 4 core members. In addition to being a primary creator of the game, I also participate in graphic design, product testing, proofreading, marketing, business contact, and advertising material design.
About UX
Project Intro.
Zoetic (international) FQ Education Group Limited is a start-up company based in Hong Kong that offers financial and business education. A brand-new game product series that meets the children's financial education course was assigned to me as the product project leader.
Challenge
To begin with, the game needs to be relevant to the course, fun and exciting, and suitable for children and young adults. Playability and knowledge need to be balanced perfectly. I constantly consult experts in finance when crafting the gameplay.
Cost is another challenge. Some of the game's props need to be customized, and many factories could not meet our needs. Finally, we worked with a world-class board game factory, but this made the game more costly and put pressure on market sales.
My point of view
The first generation of the game includes all course content with four main systems, personal skills, funds and stocks, banks and cash flows, and social instances. It has won the favour of many teenagers and adults for its competitive gameplay. Nevertheless, social media weren't as popular within the early years as they are today, and advertising was more expensive and limited. This made it difficult for the game to gain attention.
From the first generation, we learned a lot. In the second generation, we reduced the difficulty of the content so that even 5-year-olds could understand it. Despite being a pocket game, the second generation kept the same four systems as the first. The Pocket version can be played like a board game without the course, and the production is much cheaper.
